Today, TIME unveils the third annual World's Most Beautiful Places list, highlighting 100 extraordinary travel destinations around the globe.
To compile this list, TIME solicited selections of locations - including countries, regions, cities and villages - from its international network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye to those offering new and exciting experiences.
Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil was presented as one of the Loire Valley's exciting new experiences, earning a place on this year's list.
