Today, TIME unveils the third annual World's Most Beautiful Places list, highlighting 100 extraordinary travel destinations around the world.
To compile this list, TIME solicited selections of places - including countries, regions, cities and towns - from its international network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye toward those that offer new and exciting experiences.
The Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil was presented as one of the exciting new experiences in the Loire Valley, which merited a place on this year's list.
