Cristina Ortiz lives in the UK. However, British phlegm has not altered her passion, spontaneity and attitude, so typical of her Brazilian origins, which influence her musical interpretation.
An international artist, Cristina has performed in the world's greatest concert halls and made numerous recordings. Whether Cristina is performing or recording, her Brazilian influences are reflected in her programming. For example, she has recorded a repertoire including the five piano concertos by Villa Lobos (Decca), with the 1996 American premiere of Guarnieri's "Choro" at Carnegie Hall, conducted by Dennis Russell Davies.
His musical passion commands him to tackle a wide repertoire of works, as a soloist in recitals and concertos, and as a chamber music pianist with artists such as Antonio Meneses, Truls Mork, Kurt Nikkanen and Uto Ughi.
It's this passion that Cristina wants to communicate. Cristina therefore organizes Master Classes, a real source of inspiration for students.
Cristina Ortiz has recently been concentrating on concerts, where she can conduct while she plays. Just as she did with the Prague Chamber Orchestra at Vienna's Musikverein, or when recording with the Consort of London (Collins Classics). At the same time, she continues to work with the greatest conductors, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Neeme Järvi, Mariss Jansons, David Zinman: Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Czech Philharmonic and Philharmonia.
