It was on Thursday 12 September, under a magnificent blue sky, that theceremony celebrating the taking of command of the 45/3 mobilegendarmerie squadron of Saint-Amand Montrond by Captain Florian Gerbal took place.
A very official taking up of arms, followed by a cocktail party, orchestrated by Colonel François Bortoli, commander of the IV/3 mobile gendarmerie group, and presided over by Madame Claire Maynadier, sub-prefect of Saint-Amand Montrond.
During his speech, Commander François Bortoli made a point of clarifying the difference between the gendarmerie and the mobile gendarmerie. We did not all know that the mobile gendarmerie is a subdivision of the French national gendarmerie specialised in maintaining or restoring order. In its daily missions, it participates in general public security alongside the departmental gendarmerie.
