"Organics

After Julien Marinetti, Daniel Hourdé and Juan Garaizabal, it's Véronique Wirth 's turn to exhibit in the gardens of Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil. Like the previous artists, one of these works will join the sculpture garden by Arielle and Hervé Borne in the heart of the château's gardens.

"Nature is essential to my work, nourishing and inspiring me on a daily basis. I have a boundless admiration for wild grasses, the ones you see by the roadside...I contemplate them, tirelessly. Nature speaks to me of the importance of time too, but in the need to take time ... an indispensable ingredient in my creation. I feel what I'm going to create, like an intuition... and then I draw. I "triturate" my intuitions on paper, and the drawing can trigger the action of confronting the material. In the process, steel reveals other surprises that I welcome and sometimes insert into my creative process.

In all my sculptures, I'm in search of balance and essential lines... I look for strength in simplicity, my approach has minimalist hues, I'm looking for lightness, transparency, balance and movement with steel. This state of creation is a source of deep joy, a daily necessity.

In my steel sculptures today, I'm particularly fond of rebar. It becomes steel wire... I turn this rough, heavy material to the advantage of "light" works, which take on an organic form, half-animal, half-plant, something alive, powerful yet gentle. I choose my material and then cut it up, multiply it into hundreds of pieces and weld it together until the brain forgets it in its new representation.

Reinforcing steel is associated with the idea of resistance, heaviness, harshness, even violence...and my challenge is to transform this apparent obviousness into joy and lightness...".
