Plastic artist, sculptor and engraver Juan Garaizabal is internationally renowned for his monumental sculptures. His works are inspired by the architectural memory of the places he discovers. The rich history of the Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil and its exceptional site immediately appealed to him.
Juan Garaizabal was moved by the striking relationship between nature and architecture at Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil, between the elements of water, stone, nature, sky and earth.
Together with Arielle and Hervé Borne, we came up with the idea of creating works that draw their inspiration from this unique link between architecture and nature, past eras opening onto others, and centuries bridging the gap between eras, with Renaissance architecture taking over from medieval, naturally, spontaneously.
Eight monumental works will be exhibited in the château's gardens, two of them directly inspired by the site.
The exhibition is curated by Galerie Capazza, in association with the artist and Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil.
