The Festival International de peinture en plein air sur grand format, organized by the association Festival Cultures Croisées under the patronage of the Fondation des Parcs et Jardins de France, arrives at Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil in the Centre-Val de Loire region for its sixth edition.

It's a traveling international art event that brings together internationally renowned plein air painters and also allows local artists to take part alongside them in plein air painting sessions.

The festival runs over five days, three of which are reserved for painting sessions in our gardens, and two days for exhibitions of the works created, small formats brought in by the artists, and portraits of the public.

Twenty "nominated" artists, approved by the Jury, must produce a "large format" painting each day: 80×80, 80×60, and 80×40. Regular festival-goers have no format obligations.

This particular format is a challenge to the artists, but the Festival is not a competition: it's also a place to meet and exchange ideas, punctuated by numerous activities such as demonstrations of outdoor painting equipment, masterclasses, and more recently the creation of collaborative pieces for the general public, supervised by a traditional artist and street-artist.

Save the date and come to the Festival from June 15 to 19, 2022 at Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil.

You can pre-register as a Festival attendee on our website via the link which will appear here soon.
