A new look for the castle

One could speak of the Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil as an old man, still in shape but a little tired, who is giving himself a second youth.

With the help of the French Ministry of Culture, restoration work at Ainay has already begun. After clearing the approach to the fortress, the scaffolding has now been erected. This giant, highly impressive project will see the complete restoration of the west wing of the Renaissance corps de logis and the corresponding facades overlooking the moat.
The restoration work includes roofing, joinery and rendering.
Although the towers have already been uncovered, this first phase of work is scheduled to last until next October. The second phase will focus on the east wing of the main building. Then, year after year, scaffolding will be erected around the fortress in order to restore the entire château and its ramparts.

This is a long-term project which is estimated to last six years.
