Fabrizio Chiovetta accordion and piano

Classically trained, Fabrizio Chiovetta studied piano and theory at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Genève, his home town. He graduated from the Conservatory with a degree in composition and piano performance. He also received the Adolphe Neumann Prize of the City of Geneva for an artist who has particularly distinguished himself.

Fabrizio continued his studies at the Tibor Varga Academy in Sion, and following the teaching of Dominique Weber, he obtained the Soloist Diploma with honours and congratulations of the jury in 2003. At the same time, Fabrizio worked with John Perry and Paul Badura-Skoda, and attended master classes with Marc Durand, Bruno Canino, Julian Martin, Yoheved Kaplinsky, György Sebők and Irwin Gage for the Lied. Fabrizio received the Audience Award at the Klaviersommer Festival in Germany in 2001 for his interpretation of Mozart. He also distinguished himself as a laureate of the "New Talents" competition in Genoa in 2002, "Orpheus" in Zurich in 2004, "Seventh International Web Concert Hall Competition" in the USA in 2005.

Fabrizio Chiovetta performs extensively in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, with partners such as Sarah & Deborah Nemtanu, Nicolas Gourbeix, Gérard Wyss, Julian Bliss, Brigitte Fournier, Henri Demarquette, Camille Thomas, Patrick Messina, Roman Trekel. Fabrizio plays under the direction of Gabor Takacs-Nagy and Ovidiu Balan, and accompanies the masterclasses of Lady Jeanne and Sir James Galway.

Fabrizio's recordings of Schumann and Schubert have received unanimous critical acclaim from Diapason, ArkivMusic, Fanfare Magazine, and American Record Guide.

Also passionate about improvisation and the accordion, Fabrizio performs with many musicians from different backgrounds: Piano Seven, Anna Prucnal, Juliette Noureddine, Masako Hayashi, Brico-Jardin, Levon and Grégoire Maret.
