Heritage Days on the theme of "Sustainable Heritage ".
For its 39th edition, the theme of the European Heritage Days is Sustainable Heritage. These days will be an opportunity to visit heritage sites, often exceptionally open for the occasion! Starting on Friday, September 16, schoolchildren will be able to take part in the "Raise your eyes!" operation, in partnership with the French Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Students will be able to discover or rediscover their region's heritage, learning about its history and specific features, and raising awareness of the importance of protecting and promoting it.
Sunday: picnic in the park*.
3 p.m.: "Highlights of the restoration of the Château d'Ainay-le-Vieil": a talk by Richard Duplat, chief architect of Monuments Historiques, on the restoration of the château, with particular emphasis on the Renaissance dwelling. He will present the progress of the château's restoration, which began in 2019. It began with the Renaissance Logis, which had numerous roofing problems, two adjacent towers that needed to be consolidated, and the restoration of the sculptures in the Tour d'honneur. This first phase of work is now complete. Restoration of the feudal part of the château - ramparts, towers and châtelet - is currently underway and should be completed by 2025.
5pm: "La Forêt de Tronçais, ses chênes, ses légendes, ses fonts et ses forges": a lecture by Annie Badower, senior lecturer at Sciences Po. She will present the long history of the Tronçais forest, with its rich historical heritage dating back to Gallo-Roman times, and its exceptional cultural heritage with its legends and fountains of many virtues. It will also show that this remarkable forest heritage is in danger, and reveal just how important it is for our region and on a national level.
